UgenTec today announced a collaborative agreement with Thermo Fisher under which UgenTec will commercialize new CE-IVD marked Assay Plug-ins for the FastFinder software, which is used to analyze and interpret results generated with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s TaqPath COVID-19 CE-IVD RT-PCR kit and the TaqPath™ COVID‑19, Flu A/B, RSV Combo kit.
Under the agreement, UgenTec, in collaboration with Thermo Fisher, will make FastFinder available to clinical laboratories to enable a seamless use of the assay and the software. Both organizations validated the Assay Plug-ins under the IVDD Directive (98/79/EC), resulting in a FastFinder Assay Plug-in enabling a regulatory-compliant workflow for routine clinical testing.
FastFinder is designed to enable automated assay result calling through clear, software-based decision rules. It uses data science and artificial intelligence to manage laboratory workflows, track quality metrics and create dashboards. Labs already using the FastFinder software can easily adopt the Assay Plug-in since they have been specifically validated for the TaqPath kits. New FastFinder customers will be able to immediately benefit from a fully traceable workflow – helping to create a full audit trail from sample in to report out.
As COVID-19 testing needs continue to evolve and more laboratories look to test for other respiratory viruses simultaneously, the new Assay Plug-ins will enable the analysis of the results generated with these TaqPath Kits using the same software platform.
