UgenTec nominated for Deloitte's "Rising Star award"

UgenTec has been nominated for the 2016 Rising Star award, together with nine other innovative and rapid growing companies. The Rising Star selection is part of the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 competition and is designed for promising companies that have been active in the technology sector for less than four years. The nominated companies will participate in a pitch presentation in Brussels on 16 November, 2016. An independent jury will select the 2016 Rising Star.

UgenTec + DeloitteUgenTec, the bioinformatics company based at the Corda site in Hasselt, is developing AI-powered software for DNA analysis. The solution solves the annual increase in volume and offers laboratories advanced automation & the accuracy they aim for. “We are excited to be nominated for the 2016 Rising Star Award. It’s the second time we were nominated for an important award in October. It is a great honour for our team, to be recognized not only for our achievements, but also for our potential.” says Wouter Uten, CEO of UgenTec.

Continuous recognition & growth

In September, the company was also elected to join “Go Global” - the EU-sponsored trade mission focused on tapping into the US market. Later that month, the company officially received its ISO certificate as well, along with a CE IVD label for FastFinder. Additionally in October, the company was nominated by UNIZO as the “most promising SME for the Limburg Region” and now is a nominee for the Rising Star Award. The scale up company has in the meantime hired its 20th full-time employee in order to meet increasing demand.
