UgenTec expands management team and appoints Steven Verhoeven as CEO

Hasselt, Belgium, December 19, 2017. | Steven Verhoeven, previously Agilent’s head of genomics software, will join UgenTec to take up the role of chief executive officer, the current role of founder Wouter Uten. Verhoeven will be responsible for continuing the exponential growth of UgenTec, exploring new markets & maintaining investor relations.

UgenTec is growing very rapidly, recently disclosing deals with commercial diagnostic companies such as R-Biopharm, SpeeDx, and Fast Track Diagnostics. Besides human clinical diagnostics, the company is expanding to other markets such as agri-genomics, human genetics, food diagnostics, animal health and companion diagnostics.

At Agilent Technologies, Verhoeven was responsible for strategy and success of a suite of software products in clinical and translational genomics. His experience lies in leading fast growing teams and scaling up organizations from a customer-centric perspective. Verhoeven previously also led operations at the Belgian genomics software company Cartagenia as COO and built out an international delivery organization as VP of Professional Services for BAE Systems Detica.

Current CEO Wouter Uten will move towards a role a Chief Operational Officer, while Tom Martens will continue his work as Chief Commercial Officer.

Verhoeven will take up his role of CEO on January 15, 2018 and will move from Boston, MA to Belgium.
